Hetalia/Animal Crossing(-based)
Neko-Cursed! Romano x Reader
Summary: You were dropped off at the wrong town because the train messed up on your ticket. You even lost your suitcase in the process and to top it off, a random cat on two-legs talked to you. What could go wrong?

Into the Wild

Prologue

"The train is bringing another human to Hetalia Village."

The voices which were once chirping with life, besides the birds, hushed at the announcement made by the mayor of the town.

His gaze turned upon the animals, his muzzle held up high without even lifting his lip to reveal his teeth and intimidate the villagers. The German Shepard stared blankly as he turned upon the railroad where a train would soon bring another victim to their cause. He knew it was cold, but they had no choice.

The train didn't come for another ten minutes and the animals, whom some were hopping mad with anticipation, groaned at the wait. They grew impatient and feral from their years. Some stormed off and others decided to test the last of their humanity against a possible lucky number for a human.

"Y'know, seven is a lucky number. Perhaps it'll shower good fortune upon us." A cow murmured with a happy-go-lucky attitude apparent in his tone.

"Is that all you can say?!" A cat hissed at the cow who only smiled back at his hostility. "We're never going to be normal. We might as well give up."

"But Fratello--"

"No! Just give up." The dull shade of brown fur stood up. His sharp green eyes mildly angered by everyone's hopeful mood.

His twin cat, a tan furred version of himself, felt tears build up in his closed eyes. "Romano..." He blubbered and he turned away.

"Romano, you should behave yourself. We're not going to give up until we found the one." The mayor spoke dryly. He nodded towards the cat and cow to keep an eye on Romano.

"Whatever, potato bastard." Romano muttered, and turned away, heading towards the village.

"What are you going, chico?" The cow asked, cocking his head.

"Home. The rest of you can live out your lives here. I'm not getting involved with a human."

...

Dear long-lost sister...

You leaned against the door of the train as it rocked and felt slightly bumpy on the rails. Your hand rested on your cheek as you glanced at the mysterious letter one more time. It claimed you had a brother whom your parents never told you about. He said they kicked him out and it would be terrible to mention your trip involving your brother.

It was fear of being disowned which led you sneak away, but you were older now and capable of caring for yourself. You patted the suitcase which held most of your belongings: clothes, money, a handbag, and a few other supplies. You smirked at the memory of being scolded for your knack of losing stuff.

'Who's losing stuff now?' You thought. You hugged the bag closely in spite of hardly anyone else being here.

You waited for your destination to arrive. New Happyland. It was the city you wanted to reach to find your brother. However, you found the name rather comical and somewhat suspicious as it sounded someone made it up on the spot.

The train ride felt like forever, but you managed to gaze at the landscapes you passed by. The mountains stood tall; proud and erect in the background. The hills added to the perception of the way it appeared like a photo. A part of your reflection was abstract against the window and the glare from the sun blocked a minor patch from being screen without moving your head.

Another thought entered your mind to keep you occupied. What would your brother look like? Would he have your (h/c) hair and/or even your (e/c) eyes? The thoughts provoked you in your frustration to imagine how New Happyland would appear.

A large town with many patches of grass with its natural feeling. It'd be bustling with people waiting for you and your brother would hug you, welcoming you to the land. You would be free of restrictions. You would finally live.

Something collided with the wooden planks which made the walls on the inside. You curiously leaned to the side, after moving to to another chair, and noticed a shadow in the phone booth. You rubbed your eyes and blinked, noticing a cat head.

Were you dreaming? You shook the image out and the head bobbing against the small square of a shaded window disappeared from sight. You decided to shrug it off as your mind playing tricks. You felt this would be an odd day with the heart burning your skin and the lack of decent fans.

You whipped your hand back and forth to send a low gust of wind towards your already-sweating face. The jacket wasn't much help either and you immediately shed it from your shoulders revealing soft skin attached to your body. The wind felt good though it was small and not really effective.

"______?"

You heard a muffled voice of a fairly medium-soft voice calling your name.

"_____?" It asked again.

"Um, yes?" You answered a little nervously.

"Ah! So you can hear me." The voice cheered, pulling you off-guard by the sudden change in pitch. "I'm sorry. Where are my manners? My name is Rover and I'll be the one who will get you settled into your new village."

You blinked. "Village? I thought I was going to a city."

"City? No, no _____. It's really a village; New Happyland, is it?"

"Yes..."

"Okay! So, do you have any questions?" Rover asked like a tour guide would.

"Yes, why are you hiding? What is the village like? Will I be able to make a living?" You inquired.

"Too many questions!" He screeched, an angry cat sound followed. "I'm sorry. I cant really come out because...it's personal."

"Aww, I'm sure you're a lovely person."

He hesitated, you could tell by the long pause. "T-Thank you." He finally said. "Well, New Happyland is a good place. The an-- people are nice."

You nodded, a few of your worries stopped tugging at you.

The train finally stopped and you somewhat felt the atmosphere of Rover smiling. Soon you heard him saying your name, but he was talking to someone else.

"Next Stop: New Happyland!" The engineer announced.

You beamed, and reached to grab your bag, but it suddenly disappeared. 'The heck is my suitcase? I could've sworn I left it here.' You thought, gritting your teeth.

The warning announced it was leaving soon so you sprinted off and the smoke hindered your vision of the train station. You looked around, coughing at the dirt particles, but you gasped at the emptiness. No bustling people. No wild animals. No brother.

You continued to take steps forward and gazed at the new atmosphere. The weather was fair, but perfect for your tastes. You looked around for someone, but you nearly yelped in surprised as something furry grabbed you and covered your mouth.

"Please don't scream. A-please don't scream, bella." A worried voice frantically said.

You tried to scream. You tried to flail, but his grip was insanely strong. The fur was tan, and strangely fuzzy. You prayed it was some kind of coat - something animal activists would faint at the sight of. Instead, you stopped; his grip loosened and you turned your face upon a humanoid-looking cat with a right-sided curl who frowned at you with his eyes squinted.

"Welcome to Hetalia Village." He said.
Animal Crossing scared me, but this story someone is doing with the two as a crossover inspired this bad boy. It always makes me think of Fruits Basket as well.

If you aren't familiar with Animal Crossing: It is a simulation game where you play a human in a village full of furries intelligent animals whom each evolved into using two legs if they haven't already and can speak your tongue.

This is a prologue of my first multi-chapter CountryxReader story. Feel free to throw out ideas such as choosing characters to be in it and their animals, events, etc.

I owe a lot to ~Minty-Ice <3

I swear...What would really happen if you were the only human in a town full of animals...?
