Mad Father: A Father's Love

Alfred sometimes wondered if his daughter would understand.

She would follow in his footsteps someday with the way her fingers itched to feel insides of an animal. He saw it and it became a fear for him to never recover from. His wife wouldn’t understand she bore his ill-bred blood - she only saw the innocence in the blue eyes of a little girl.

He worked on his own experiments, but she was once a surgeon as a younger man. He worked at a local hospital in Germany and Monika was a fellow visitor who checked upon her sister. Ironically, he was in charge of the operation and the woman pleaded to Alfred to save her. It was hard for him to turn away from her features, but it was his job to work on people.

It was the only thing he knew.

Now, he believed he had one chance to redeem himself. He was probably going to suffer in the inferno, but he would gladly do it for the sake of his daughter. If only she would understand. It was her loyalty to him which kept him trying and experimenting and his love was often poured onto the assistant.

Aya would grow up to be beautiful, but hauntingly dark. He often turned those images away as he kissed her good-night, hugged her and played with her. He plunged deeper into his own insanity with the direct belief he would save her from a terrible fate.

Fate never enjoyed being tampered with.

He knew she wouldn’t understand. She cried, turning down the one chance to save her from the future. Maria turned against him and his wife already made sure to meet him down below. He lost it. He attacked, but inside, he was sobbing uncontrollably. He lost it. He lost his mind.

And his own life as the knife entered his chest.

Good Night.

He had once kissed Aya on the forehead and murmured something under his breath. She stared at him, confused.

Alfred only smiled. “I blessed you with good luck for eternity.” Out of love.
